According to an article published in Politico entitled, “George H.W. Bush to vote for Hillary Clinton,” Kathleen Hartington Kennedy Townsend reported that she met with the former president and he told her that he would be voting for Hillary Clinton. Even though he had intended to merely distance himself from Trump by remaining silent and not attending the GOP Convention, he nevertheless revealed his preference for Hillary in his conversation with Ms. Townsend, the former Maryland lieutenant governor and daughter of the late Robert F. Kennedy.
The article, written by Darren Samuelsohn, is not the first time we have heard that the Bush family doesn’t support Trump. Back in February, former First Lady Barbara Bush told “CBS This Morning” anchor, Norah O’Donnell, “I don’t know how women can vote for Trump.” Laura Bush also has indicated that she may be supporting Hillary. At an event for women on foreign policy, Laura Bush said:
“I want our next president — whoever he or she might be — to be somebody who is interested in women in Afghanistan and who will continue US policies … that we continue to do what we’re committed to do as a country.”
More recently, Barbara Bush, the daughter of the Laura and George H.W. Bush, appeared at a Paris fundraising event for Hillary Clinton hosted by Huma Abedin, a top aide to Secretary Clinton, where she appeared in photos taken that then circulated around the Internet.
